This is a visual description of how Manipuris (northeast Indian community) usually prepare offerings to god.
The preparation of ‘chakluk’ (plate) and ‘dona’ (bowl) is an integral part of Manipuri tradition.
In the olden days, when there were abundant banana trees and metals and alloys were rare or costly, banana leaves were used to serve food. With the invention and large scale manufacture of steel and plastic, the usage of banana leaves has reduced greatly.
Leaving aside the question of hygiene and deforestation and need of oxygen, tradition is tradition and an integral part of our lives.
The old ‘Arangfam’ is one of the many unofficial arranger of basic requirements of rituals whether it be weddings, childbirth, death, house inauguration, etc. An arangfam has to undergo training under senior arangfams and also from priests because they are the only people who shoulder the responsibility of running a ceremony smoothly.
The chakluk and dona are not manufactured commercially nor are for large scale use. Источник видео youtube.com/watch?v=lcrnIZEkUxU
