SCULPTING FANTASY CREATURES FROM POLYMER CLAY, SILICONE AND RESIN
е:
Check out this fantastic compilation of fantasy creatures made from polymer clay, silicone and resin — they look so cute!
These artists are real masters of sculpture, and this process is satisfying to watch!
Here is more information about the authors:
1. Jackie Harder creates mixed media creatures that come from an imaginary, enchanted world she calls the Trillium Forest. Her pieces are one of a kind, hand-sculpted, hand-painted and made from polymer clay, resin or epoxy clay, acrylic paint and her own handmade glass eyes.
2. Jessica Emmett is a British designer toy maker, illustrator & artist based in Singapore. She has an eclectic, creative background; originally she studied photography and film at university. She has been a freelance artist since 2006. In 2013 she decided to change direction towards illustration. In 2017 she stumbled onto designer toys after seeing some at a convention she was also boothing at. Jessica assumed they had all been made in factories, so when the toy maker informed her he made them himself by casting resin, it blew her mind! Jessica thought she would give it a go herself, and since then she hasn’t stopped! She loves creating cute stuff and creatures.
3. Martina is an Italian artist and illustrator. Art has been her primary passion since when she was a child. She started working with Fimo polymer clay just for fun, at the end of 2016. She immediately fell in love with this material! Soon she discovered resin, and she even started to mix them in her creations, such as for phone covers, creatures and jewelry. Martina’s favorite subjects are sweets, treats, animals and creatures, but she has recently been studying the human figure.
4. Steve Ferrera is a creative artist based in Berkeley, California. He lives there with his one-eyed cat. He received his BFA from UCSC and his MFA from SJSU, both with an emphasis in sculpture. His work crosses many disciplines including film, television, stop motion animation, children’s books, and collectable toys. Often inspired by mythology, religion, cartoons, and make believe, his curious and absurd creatures exist in their own cosmic events, lurking on the fringes of fairy tale and folklore.
He’s currently working on a children’s book with photographs of puppets and miniature sets. You can see some behind the scenes stuff on his Patreon page .
