Airbrush Basics — Airbrushes — Best Quality Airbrushes — Lowest Prices!
A lot of people have requested a video on airbrushing basics and the airbrush is really so simple that there really isn’t very much to that. This is a simple video but the airbrush really is simple and you need to grasp that idea. All it does is spray paint.
Apparently, there is a great deal of misunderstanding about the complexity and difficulty of the airbrush itself. Many people seem to think that perhaps it is very difficult to master. In fact, the airbrush itself is so simple that the term «master» is hardly appropriate at all.
The airbrush is simple enough to understand and get familiar with to a very proficient degree. When you play with an airbrush for a matter of minutes, you will definitely get it.
The airbrush really just sprays paint. That’s it, that’s all. You can control air pressure and material (paint) as well as the distance from the surface being painted, speed of your strokes, etc. Really it just isn’t anything like the concert piano or rocket science.
Over 90% of the art created with an airbrush is actually created by what you hold in your other hand — the materials and devices like templates and stencils that control the paint.
This video — as simplistic as it seems — really is the what, how and why of the airbrush — a very simple tool that can easily be used to create some really neat artwork.
Compressors: Any compressor will really do just fine. You can use a large shop compressor just fine. You may already have a shop compressor and they hold plenty of air for an airbrush for sure obviously. You will need to get an adapter to step down your air line size to airbrush line size.
The small airbrushing compressors are conveniently portable and are set up for the smaller airbrush lines. These tiny compressors have to run pretty much constantly to keep up and that can be annoying plus they tend to vibrate themselves around.
Airbrush: Yes, these are cheap Chinese made airbrushes but so are Most of the airbrushes that are labeled as made in other countries like Japan or USA but are merely re-packaged or partly assembled in the US or Japan. German-made airbrushes are fantastic and they really are made in Germany though they are VERY pricey. Other than that you’re buying a Chinese-made airbrush whether you like it or not — no matter what it says on the packaging.
I recommend the Veda Model 180. on my main page at
These Model 180 airbrushes run in the $35 price range and are EXACTLY comparable in terms of quality to name-brand airbrushes that cost in the $150to $250 price range — and frankly they may come off of the exact same production lines in China.
These Veda 180 airbrushes are inexpensive and very high-quality. Buying direct from the factory under their generic label keeps them cheap since you’re not just giving lots of extra cash to a bunch of fat-cat executives at the big airbrush corporations. NOTE: shipping direct from the factory outlet in Hong Kong by International Mail can take a few weeks.
So, yes, these are cheap Chinese-made airbrushes but so are all of the airbrushes that are labeled as made in Japan or USA, etc. Also, many cheap Chinese airbrushes are total junk and should be avoided. These ones however are really very good. I strongly recommend them. They are great airbrushes and are perfect starter airbrushes for people who are just getting into airbrushing. Again, if you want a pricey, super high-quality airbrush, you are well-advised to buy German.
Watch this video and you will see what the basics are of using and airbrush itself and of using templates and stencils and what the advantages are to the airbrush and why you would choose to use it for certain artwork.
