Baby Shower Cake
е:
Butterflies, Daisies, and Babies, oh my!
Due to rude comments about this being ‘unprofessional’ and ‘lazy’, I have removed commenting from my video. I am NOT a professional. I am a mother of 4 very young children who does this for fun in my spare time. I make mistakes as I learn as I go. I do cakes for FREE. Ok? FREE! They will NOT be perfect, and I know that. If I kept to doing things I was ‘perfect’ or ‘professional’ at, I wouldn’t do anything. If you don’t think the cake looks nice, go watch another video.
In April I was asked to ‘have fun’ in making a cake for a baby shower. My friend loves butterflies, and the theme was ‘pink’ so I designed and made a cute baby cake for her. It was supposed to simply have butterflies, but I thought flowers would be pretty… and then I wanted to try making a little fondant baby for on top as well.
Unfortunately, I made the baby the morning of the shower so it did not have time to dry completely and ended up getting squished on the cake cover when we hit a bump on the drive 🙁 A tip… always try to make fondant decorations the day before assembly, and let them dry completely.
I do not have the final assembly on video as I had to do that at the shower itself. It was pretty simple though, just taking the white icing and going around the top tier with it, then adding flowers and butterflies cascading down one side. Wish I would have gotten video though… battery didn’t have time to recharge. 🙁
