Floral Fury is a level on Inkwell Isle One, where the fight with Cagney Carnation takes place. It is represented on the map by a flower patch. While this level is normally unlocked after completing Threatenin’ Zeppelin, it is possible to access it earlier by taking a shortcut below the bridge on the left of Ruse of an Ooze.
The level is set in the middle of a plains area, with flower bushes in the background as well as a large tree on the right. This fight has two/three phases. The two first phases are very similar, with you just fighting Cagney Carnation. The third phase is where you fight a stronger version of Cagney, with vines on the bottom of the level. This is the first boss level to feature platforms to step on.
The weapons recommended for this fight is Spread and Roundabout. You should also use Super art I and Heart, P-Sugar, or Smoke Bomb. Parry the pink seeds, because it would be too distracting when the Flying Orange Baby Toothy Terrors came out.

Phase 1
Before the battle begins, Cagney Carnation will seem like happy, friendly flower with a big ol’ smile on his face, until he furiously shouts at the player(s) with his tongue out! Then for the rest of the battle Cagney will have an evil smile on his face.
Cagney has two attacks during his first phase:
Cagney’s first attack is where he’ll lunge his face forward to hurt Cuphead and Mugman. He can either lunge on the top of the screen or on the bottom of the screen, and to know where he’s lunging, you’ll have to see where he closes his face. If he closes his face (with his petals) crouched down, then he’ll strike the lower part, if he closes his face almost standing up, he’ll strike the higher part. To dodge this, you simply have to get on the platforms or get off the platforms.
His second attack is where he turns his head into a gattling gun and starts shooting out little seeds. These seeds will fall out of the sky, and when they hit the ground, create a plant (called Baby Toothy Terrors). There are three types of Baby Toothy Terrors:
Purple seeds create stationary Baby Toothy Terrors. These enemies will stay in place on the ground, and are destructible from a few hits. They look very similar to «Toothy Terrors» from Forest Follies, and that’s why their called «Baby Toothy Terrors.» In Simple Mode, these are the only kind of seeds that Cagney will shoot out in the first phase, though the animation when firing shows purple and blue seeds. In the second phase Cagney will start shooting blue and pink seeds.
Blue seeds create moving Baby Toothy Terrors. These enemies are green, and they slowly home in onto the player(s). They can also be destroyed by a few hits.
Pink seeds create floating Baby Toothy Terrors. These enemies are orange and have green leaves (much like Cagney) and they fly at the top of the screen. Once in a while, these enemies grow mouths and will shoot out bullets, with some of them being parryable. Even though they can be shot and destroyed, it is recommended to parry their seeds before they land, because it will get rid of the Baby Toothy Terrors, and will fill up your super meter.
Phase 2
After taking enough damage Cagney Carnation will go to his second phase. Nothing visually changes in this phase, Cagney does the same attacks, but this time, he has a new attack.
Cagney will cup his hands together, then open them. One of two things can be shot out:
The first thing that can be shot out are three/four acorns. These acorns will stay in place for a little bit, then home in onto the player. Don’t worry though, they fly off pretty quick.
Once Cagney has taken enough damage, he’ll pull on his petals, then stick his arms into the ground. Cagney then turns big, and now there are thorny vines at the bottom, so you can’t go onto the ground. In Simple Mode, the fight ends with Cagney just pulling on his petals.
«Extreme pollination and total domination!»
—Cagney Carnation, Final Phase Death Screen
It is recommended that you use the Roundabout, because when jumping between platforms, you might turn around, and miss the boss.
Once Cagney has taken enough damage, the fight will be over. Cagney will be looking up with a sad expression and his tongue.
