How to make fun concrete chooks
е:
Sophie and Irene have created some wonderful cement chooks.
To make concrete chooks you’ll need:
— Plastic bags — freezer bags are ideal
— Cement
— Sand
— Air-dried clay
— Waterproof paint
— 2-part epoxy glue
— Bucket, spoon, large rock and screw driver
Method:
1. In a bucket combine 1 part cement and 4 parts sand
2. Add water slowly, stirring until combined
3. Spoon the mix into the plastic bag, patting it down to remove air bubbles
4. Tie off the bag and place it onto a large, rounded rock (to create a curved indentation)
5. Create some wattles, beaks and combs out of the air-dried clay
6. After 24 hours, remove the bag and upturn the cement lump.
7. Carve feathers and wing designs
8. Paint the chook’s body then sponge off much of the paint to create two-tone colouring
9. Paint the combs and beaks and stick them into place using the 2-part epoxy glue
