The Play-Doh Magical Oven, from Hasbro, is part of Play-Doh’s Kitchen Creations collection, and great for chefs 3-and-up. The Play-Doh Magical Oven comes with an oven, 5 pretend food attachments; 3 cutters; a roller; a knife, fork and spoon; a plate; 6 two-once cans of Play-Doh; instructions and a creation card. The Magical Oven requires 3 AAA batteries, not included. An adult will need to install the batteries and the oven door, but after that, it’s time to bake! Children have enjoyed creating with Play-Doh since the 1950s, and it’s still as fun as ever. With the Magical Oven, children can roll and slice dough to make muffins, cupcakes, cookies and pies. Once the prep-work has been done, open the oven-door and slide the pan inside. Close the oven, pull the lever and watch your cakes bake! As the oven heats up, the lights become a darker red. And then, ding!, a sound will let you know your recipe has been baked to perfection. Remove your baked goods and enjoy! And although I’ve always loved the smell of Play-Doh, remember that it’s not actual food! The oven is covered with additional shaped cutters, in case you feel one should finish dinner before engaging in pastries. I’m a strong believer that when it comes to pretend-play, imagination is always the best ingredient — but it’s tough to argue with how cute and fun the Magical Oven is. And I really do love the oven lights and sound. So, the diet starts tomorrow — today we bake!
